At the beginning of the 1963 season, Carroll Shelby hired MacDonald away from Chevrolet to drive his Cobra roadster. In his meteoric four-year racing career, MacDonald competed in 118 races, with 52 victories and 75 top-three finishes. All in all, the movie included an overwhelming bevy of fast Ford and Shelby eye candy.īesides a slow walk around SLC’s sprawling warehouse and shop (where we must have drooled over every car on the property), our first ride was in a SuperFormance Shelby small-block Cobra that very authentically replicated the red Cobra raced by the late, great Dave MacDonald, a stellar driver that played big in Cobra history: David George MacDonald (July 23, 1936 – May 30, 1964) was an American road racing champion noted for his successes driving Corvettes and Shelby Cobras in the early 1960s. You also saw a Cobra Daytona Coupe or two flash by in various shop scenes. Of course most of these properties were MkII GT40s to replicate the cars that you saw racing in the movie at “Le Mans,” not to mention the countless Cobra roadsters that Bale raced and Damon drove. One was a Shelby Engine Company big-block 427 that you only saw on screen sitting on an engine stand. Some were partially built body/chassis, other simply non-running bucks. We say properties, because not all of the items were complete and running cars. SLC provided nearly 30 different properties to FOX in the production of Ford v Ferrari. Shelby Legendary Cars provided all of the Cobras and GT40s you saw on that big screen, and still had a few on hand when we visited to ask, “Can we drive them?” Matt Damon and Christian Bale did more than credible acting work portraying Carroll Shelby and the mega-talented but oft-times mercurial Ken Miles.Īmong the many things Ford v Ferrari accomplished was to (re)introduce Ford and Shelby American’s epic chase for total domination of Ferrari, and everyone else, at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in the mid-60s, as well as the rest of the world’s sports car and endurance racing landscape. Making one look like Le Mans in 1966 was an even bigger one that had to also include every car seen, period-correct apparel, signage, the grandstands and such. The food tasting was phenomenal and we had a hard time cutting down our choices. While this can be stressful, the transition to our new coordinator Charlotte was very smooth and we were lucky have planned with her! Since we are not locals they were able to accommodate us with our travel plans. We initially started off with one event coordinator who ended up leaving during our planning process. The event staff was a pleasure to work with. While others hit one or two of our checkboxes this one checked them all! We ended up visiting several other venues on this trip and subsequent trips but ultimately came back to this perfect spot at The Equinox. It feels like you are away but you are still close enough to the beautiful town of Manchester and all that it has to offer. It has an outstanding view of water and mountains as well as the a rustic cabin feel. However, upon meeting staff and being shuttled to the pavilion (which could not be directly seen from the Inn), we found the perfect hidden gem. Although the Inn looks beautiful, it didn’t match our expectations at first glance. Book it- this will be the best decision you've ever made. The resort's rich history, staggering views, and unparalleled service are truly second to none, and we are so thankful to have celebrated our special day there back in September. I guess what I'm trying to say is if you can get married at the Equinox, do it. Ruth did everything in her power to make sure our big day went off without a hitch, and we couldn't be more grateful.Īdditional shout outs to Kenny Valenzuela for all his hard work during our ceremony and reception, Nick Abraham for being so friendly and accommodating to all our guests at the front desk, Jody Hewes and Mimi Alford for all their help with our room block, Kim Albert for the endless laughs at our rehearsal dinner, and Jonathan Erthwhile for singlehandedly bringing all the leftover cupcakes, cookies, donuts, and Ben & Jerry's ice cream back to our suite for the after-party like some kind of superhuman dessert angel. Lost the father of the bride? Ruth's already found him. Need batteries and a birthday candle? Ruth's already got some. Want a table taken down? Ruth's already done it. Like Charlotte, Ruth was nothing short of an all star. She's a peach and a true professional, and we cannot thank her enough for all her guidance in making our night at the pond so perfect.Īnother leading lady we were lucky enough to have in our corner was Ruth Whitelaw, the Equinox Director of Catering who was the day-of coordinator the night of our wedding. For nine months straight, Charlotte fielded our endless questions about anything and everything from vendors, to logistics, to decor, all with a smile on her face. Charlotte's patience, enthusiasm, responsiveness, sense of humor, and knowledge of the industry are just a few of the things that make her a joy to work with. The minute we met Charlotte Callahan, the Equinox Wedding Coordinator, we knew we were in good hands. What makes this place so special, however, is the staff. And from hiking, to outlet shopping, to fly-fishing and cheese tours, there really is something for everyone in Manchester. The resort itself, nestled right in the shadow of the mountains, is breathtaking. Look at each other and say how badly we wish we could go back to Vermont and do it all over again. Aside from all that, the scenery is beautiful and the food was great but be careful when choosing this vendor. We were told originally we would be the only wedding there but a few months before I find out from my florist that there was another wedding there that weekend (not that big of a deal but just another lie told to us). ![]() ![]() Also, the bar in the wedding was about 3-4$ more expensive per drink than the bar inside the hotel so a lot of our guests would frequently leave during the reception to the bar to get cheaper drinks. ![]() Thank goodness our other vendors were fabulous or this day would’ve been a mess thanks to the Equinox. We were given another wedding planner who was great but the day before the wedding she passed us off to a different wedding planner not even associated with the equinox, who I had never met and barely saw on my wedding day. Then my wedding planner decided to quit a week before the wedding. The Equinox agreed to have a certain discount for the rooms to make it more affordable for our guests but when it came time to doing the actual room block they would not honor the discount and essentially no one was able to stay there and guests had to scramble to find elsewhere to stay. We had picked the Equinox to be able to have our guests Stay there. That’s the great advantage of interacting with a system instead of just reasoning about it. We had to think about it for a second, and it felt like a discovery, something we didn’t know we didn’t know. (The REPL preloads some standard modules like Bags and Sequences.) What precisely is the mismatch between your hypothesis and reality? How can the tools help you find it? Specifying Systems § 14.5.2 “Debugging a Specification” is a particularly good section about this, so we won’t repeat it, but we’ll try to add a bit.Įrror traces are the main technique for answering this question. You ask this question when you have a wrong hypothesis about your spec: you either didn’t write the spec you thought you did, or the spec doesn’t behave as you think. The tools are only prototypes or don’t exist at all. TLC and TLAPS are production-quality, and there are new tools like Apalache.Īs we go down the list there are vaguer questions like “Is the spec generally behaving as intended?” or “How do I use TLA+ to communicate behaviors to other people?” These are decreasingly well-supported. It’s the main purpose of model-checking and proofs, and it’s where most of the research seems to go. The first question, “Does my spec imply my invariants / properties”, is the most thoroughly supported.
